Slavic Dinner

The Slovak Heritage Society sponsored an ethnic dinner at St. Ignatius Church, Kingston, PA on Sunday, March 4, 2012. The project helped defray costs (meals, lodging, transportation for four days) associated with the upcoming concerts given by musicians from Slovakia. The dinner consisted of holupky, pirohy, kielbasi by Tarnoskis of Glen Lyon, vegetables, and wonderful desserts made by our members. The hall was beautiful with white linens and red roses.

A Chinese Auction sponsored by the FSCLA was a matching funds project and was very successful. The additional funds were greatly appreciated. Ed Sircot of McAdoo had a display and sold Ukraine eggs.  Many take-out dinners were sold and a good time was had by all.

The most significant thing was the number of people, (our members and many friends who are not member of the society) that came forward to help make this dinner a success. Friends who helped were from following churches and groups: St. Ignatius, Exultation of the Holy Cross, St. John's, St. Adalberts, St. Matthews, Gate of Haven, First Presbyterian, and Regional Youth Ministry. We can not thank everyone enough for their help in so many ways.

We have been asked if we will do it again.
